I love Yogabox but there’s a culture of people leaving before savasana and bringing/using phones in the studio room that can be disruptive and frustrating as another student. It’d be great if these sort of things could be more discouraged.

She actually informs during her instructions about the pose and its effect and benefits in the body and how it impacts our overall wellbeing (the somatic practice). I just think it’s refreshing to know why we do certain poses in yoga and what the goal is. I love that the space is cozy and she always provides a lot of props which you don’t get at other studios.

She gave thoughtful form corrections throughout class, so I never felt lost despite being a complete beginner. The workout was challenging, well-structured, and worked my entire body while still leaving me feeling strong and refreshed afterward. I will say as a beginner, I probably would have benefited from mirrors on all walls as we rotated but she would move around to help keep her in our vision. I was sweaty but the mats were super grippy so I never felt like I was going to slip, but they offered full length towels (in addition to hand towels) that some laid over their mats. Music was a nice r&b lo-fi vibe to fill the silence but not be distracting. I’ll definitely return!

I think there’s a common misconception that tai chi is for older people due to its slow pace. I disagree! The movements were more challenging to hold due to the pace, and it forced me to actually be mindful about my form (as opposed to blasting through reps). Additionally, the core work and forms involved prepare you for this and other martial arts. The teacher is great and the studio was easy to find in the fitness center. Highly recommend!
